About Inspire Connections

Inspire Connections was founded by experienced teacher Karina because she was keen to support children to develop skills and thrive in a different kind of classroom environment. She wanted to provide more effective opportunities to build the skills and competencies that would help them feel confident, supported, seen and valued. Within a safety-focused, trauma informed approach, learning alongside horses, outdoors in nature, has proven not only effective but transformative to the young people and adults who have participated in the Inspire Connections’ programs.

NDIS and Neurodivergent Support

Inspire Connections is a registered NDIS provider offering tailored, strengths-based sessions for NDIS participants and neurodivergent individuals. Through structured, safety-focused interactions with horses, we support emotional regulation, confidence, and social development in children, adolescents, and adults, including those with Autism and ADHD.

What to Expect in an Equine Facilitated Learning Session

Participants begin with a meet-and-greet orientation session to become familiar with the horses and the environment. From there, we work with the participant’s goals to create a personalised plan.

Sessions include guided, scaffolded, safety-focused activities alongside the horses. All experiences take place on the ground — no riding is involved. Through these interactions, participants build practical skills and strategies that support emotional regulation, confidence, and meaningful learning.

We support people seeking a deeper connection with themselves and others. With an embedded safety focus and a therapeutic approach, we offer structured educational activities and packages intentionally designed to support emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and personal growth.

Surrounded by nature, we offer a nurturing space to be present, explore and learn.

Nestled in the peaceful Tasmanian bushland of Broadmarsh, just 40 minutes from Hobart, Inspire Connections offers a calm and welcoming space where participants connect, grow, and thrive.

At Inspire Connections, we offer programs for students attending primary or secondary school, learning online, or being homeschooled.

Students consistently engage with enthusiasm, enjoying the opportunity to get to know the horses and build meaningful connection. All activities are thoughtfully designed, scaffolded, and delivered within a carefully considered safety framework that prioritises the wellbeing of both horses and participants.

Grounded in ethical and relational principles, students are invited to consider how the horses may be feeling in each moment. This process supports the development of emotional awareness, empathy, and self-reflection. As students begin to learn more about the horses, they also begin to better understand and regulate their own thoughts and emotions.

Through this experiential approach, a powerful and engaging learning journey unfolds — one that supports personal growth, confidence, and meaningful educational outcomes.

A growing body of research indicates that professionally facilitated equine-assisted programs can support social, emotional, and behavioural development across the lifespan. When delivered within a structured, safety-focused framework, interactions with horses provide experiential learning opportunities that promote measurable skill development.

Participants may develop improved emotional regulation, increased self-awareness, enhanced communication skills, and greater confidence and resilience. The relational and responsive nature of horses offers immediate, non-verbal feedback, supporting reflection, perspective-taking, and adaptive behaviour.

At Inspire Connections, all sessions are delivered by trained professionals within an ethical, welfare-conscious model that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of both participants and horses. This structured approach supports the development of functional life skills that can be applied across educational, social, and everyday contexts.

Professional, Ethical, and Safeguarding Standards

Inspire Connections is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice and participant safety. Our facilitators hold current professional insurance, teacher registration, and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP). We maintain active membership with relevant recognised professional organisations.

Our work is guided by established ethical frameworks, risk management procedures, and ongoing training and professional development to ensure safe, accountable, and high-quality service delivery.

What students, parents and educators are saying

I found the session to be an incredibly valuable experience for both students and staff. The calm, reflective pace encouraged genuine engagement and emotional awareness. The facilitators modelled strong trauma-informed practice and relational safety, which aligns closely with our school’s wellbeing approach. I believe continued participation in this program would have lasting benefits for our students’ confidence, regulation, and interpersonal growth.
Primary Teacher
The invitational and trauma-informed nature of the program also supports our cohort particularly well. Students learn that relationships are built through respect, calmness, and consistency rather than control or power. Back at school, this can enhance peer relationships, improve engagement, and support a more positive, regulated classroom culture.

…she returned to school more animated and excited, in a positive way, than I have seen her all year, talking all about her experiences with the horses...
Grade 3 Teacher
...when I'm having a tough day, it helps to look at the photos of me with the horses...
Adult Participant
...What I like about the horses is that you need to trust them and they need to trust you...
Grade 6 Student
...wow! This is fun! Can I come back next week?
Grade 4 student with learning challenges
…he was able to focus on his work for longer and wrote more than usual, retelling his activities as a participant in the horse program.
